Last week I enjoyed being part of the team which introduced Alex Jones, co-presenter of the BBC One Show, to climbing Pembrokeshire’s real rock.Next week Alex is taking on the considerable challenge to climb the 1200ft face of Moonlight Buttress in Zion National Park, Utah in under three days. This is in aid to raise money for Sport Relief, a very worthwhile cause. She has been training hard for the challenge, which bought her to Pembrokeshire to take part in some outdoor climbing.
It might have been a slightly wet Pembrokeshire day, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! The day provided a great opportunity for Alex to put into practise the skills she had learnt from climbing indoors and to get her hands onto some real rock.
Alex did very well, especially considering the wet conditions, which made the rock quite slippery. A couple of routes were climbed, including one of Pembrokeshire’s classic climbs, ‘Sea Mist’.
So, do watch here to see Alex climbing in Pembrokeshire (plus a sneaky shot of me here and there in a silver helmet, looking slightly damp!)
